Dome is a word that comes from the Italian language. The term is frequently used in architecture to refer to the vault that covers a building, either completely or only partially.
The usual thing is that the domes have a semi-spherical shape and that they are erected around a symmetrical axis. For example: “The dome of the church exhibits paintings from the 14th century”, “The storm damaged the dome of the Legislature building”, “What is most surprising about the construction is its baroque dome ”.
There is a wide variety of dome styles, just as there are multiple architectural styles. The domes are a very important element in Byzantine and Islamic art, citing two cases.

In another sense, the group formed by the leaders of an organization is known as leadership. In general, those who make up the leadership are the bosses or the leaders, that is, people capable of making the most important decisions within the group in question: “The leadership of the company has decided to close the northern branch due to its poor results”, “I think it is an issue that should be discussed by the leadership of the party”, “I am going to take the proposal to the leadership to see what they think”.

St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican
It is a dome of 136.57 meters, the highest built to date. On its inner perimeter you can read the inscription «You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven”, in Latin.
Pantheon of Agrippa, Rome
Like so many others, this dome is located in Italy. The Pantheon of Agrippa was built in the year 128 and its majestic dome, located in the very center of the building, has an oculus 9 meters in diameter that lets in sunlight, but also rainwater. It is worth mentioning that it is an architectural work that has inspired many artists throughout history.
Hagia Sophia, Istanbul
With a beauty like few others, this dome is supported by four pendentives (curvilinear triangles that make up the ring of a dome together with the arches called torales) reinforced by forty ribs, between which there are windows that create the illusion of a gold chain when sunlight passes through them.
St Paul’s Cathedral, London
This cathedral boasts the second largest dome in the world and was built by the famous scientist and architect Sir Christopher Wren, who also rebuilt the London churches that were affected by a terrible fire that took place in the year 1666.
The Rock, Jerusalem
It is a dome that is, in turn, an Islamic temple and it is said that it was built in honor of Allah. According to beliefs, the stone that is in its center was the point from which Muhammad ascended to the sky to be with Allah and this makes it a holy site. In 1993 its gold coating was renewed, and the repair cost no less than 8 million dollars; the King of Jordan donated that amount, for which he did not hesitate to sell one of his properties.
United States Capitol
It was erected between 1855 and 1866, and involved a monetary investment of more than a million dollars. Formerly, on the same site there was a green copper dome, which was replaced for aesthetic reasons.
