Absenteeism Dictionary Definitions

The truancy or absenteeism is the deliberate abstention from attending the job or fulfill an obligation. According to Digopaul, absenteeism also refers to the custom that an owner may have of residing outside the locality in which her assets are located.

In this sense, an absentee is the landowner who lives far from his lands, so he does not exploit them and leave them idle. This attitude usually generates social problems, especially in those regions where most people do not have arable land.

In the case of absenteeism, it is defined as the absence of a person from his / her job in the hours that correspond to working according to labor legislation. The main causes of absenteeism are paid legal leave, illnesses, accidents at work and absences for unjustified causes.

Sociologists affirm that unjustified absenteeism is a phenomenon linked to the attitude of the person and of society in general towards work. In any case, working conditions are a direct cause of absenteeism.

The truancy, meanwhile, is not excused absence to schools by students. Schools generally have a compulsory attendance regime, which implies that students can only miss class a certain number of times throughout the year. When a student exceeds the allowed absence limit, she loses her status as a regular student.

It is in the student stage that the company tries to instill in children the responsibility, so the truancy reveals a series of errors of the system. First of all, most people are forced to attend an educational center where they will receive static training, the same for everyone, without paying attention to the particularities of each individual, their needs, their tastes and abilities. Many students who manage to discover their vocation on time, spend more than ten years of compulsory education suffering from having to internalize content that they are not interested in, and the first idea they have to avoid this situation is to be absent from school.

Another condition of excessive absences from an educational center is the physical and psychological abuse that many children and adolescents suffer in their student years. The causes are publicly known and have been repeatedly discussed: obesity, homosexuality, physical defects and learning problems are the most common. It is unfair to expect that a child who must wake up at 7 in the morning and prepare to go to a building where he will find hostility and teasing about his excess weight will do so as if it were a satisfactory experience for him, or ignore the attacks. and focus on fulfilling the obligations that others imposed on you without offering you alternatives.

In short, absenteeism at school is a relatively healthy way out of a situation of continual abuse. However, many people carry this suffering to adulthood, since they fail to overcome their fears and adapt to life in society. Similarly, some of the abusers who made fun of their peers in their childhood and physically assaulted them carry the frustrations that led them to have such attitudes beyond their student stage.

This results in a former abuser being able to cross the path of a former abuser, and the nightmare taking place once again, albeit with potentially more serious consequences: Missing work indiscriminately carries penalties and, at one point, loss of position. This can lead to a crisis on a personal level, given the lack of resources to maintain independence, which is exacerbated if no one is helped.
