Always fascinated me the idea turn into livable spaces that originally were not; factories, offices, workshops … today I bring you an extreme, convert case a farm on the outskirts of London in a beautiful minimalist house.
It may sound simple at first sight, but transform a barn and a stable into a home without losing the essence of what you had before, it is not easy.
To this end, it has retained the structurey maintained the proportions of the original spaces. But, for me, the greatest success of the reform has been the choice of materials; plaster, concrete, wood and glass. A winning combination.
With all of you, a minimalist farmhouse.
Often, decorate a large space is more complicated than it seems; Enter us the horror vacui and began to fill it with furniture, paintings, rugs, lamps … everything so that it does not appear empty.
Good minimalism should get a space is nice and cozy with the smallest number of elements possible, and that’s what you get in this dining room. There is just a table and a sideboard; but overlooking the central courtyard, the wooden table, on our heads and warm light beams make it a place where fancy sit down to eat seeing Chase horses.
Behind the wall in the background, hidden the kitchen. Simple as her own; two bars of stainless steel, lacquered furniture in white without any handle, and no, light and bright. Scarce in England.
A small detail that I love and which I doubt it’s a coincidence, is that the small wall that separates the kitchen from the dining room is located just under one of the beams, but not to touch it. That way you get separate well both zones and while maintaining the spatial unit of what before was stable. If the wall is a little displaced, that separation would be much more confusing and the idea of creating would not be achieved a single space with two rooms.
The dining room gives access to the Living room, located at the end of the U to form the House, in what used to be the barn. Here the ceilings are higher, so we have chosen only partially cover the walls and leave the original structure look in all its splendour.
White walls adorned with black and white photographs, and a couple of sofas, very straight lines in the Center. Again the warmth of the wood, white and light, combined with the strength of the structure, create a very nice space that chat with friends or watch TV sunk in that pile of cushions.
On the other side of the kitchen there is a small library, directly linked to the main bedroom. A place quiet and peaceful, with chairs that invite you to sink into them and immerse yourself in reading and views of the green meadows to lose the look on the horizon.
Again, light everywhere; I am not fan of gloomy libraries or read in the light of a kerosene lamp. I like the Sun and its heat, especially if it’s cold, and I assure you that it does for those lares.
Cleverly, the reading room and all the bedrooms are Eastern-oriented, so them lights up the dawn and the morning sun.
Like the rest of the House, the rooms are decorated a combination of white and wood. Bed, white cotton linen, adds to the clarity that brings the window that opens opposite the bed.
All the wing look toward field and not towards the patio. This form allows large openings and, therefore, lots of light, without conditioning the privacy.
I know that everyone does not like both white, but you don’t deny that you don’t want to lie down on the couch to browse the newspaper while sideways you admire the landscape.
The rest of the House two bedrooms make it up more with their own bathrooms, a study, a small barn and several small auxiliary rooms. All decorated following the lines marked by the main rooms.
Welcoming spaces, lots of light, warm materials … in short, a reform cared to detail, following a very proper aesthetics for its purpose and respecting the spirit of the original.
Pity you don’t have there any forgotten property that reform or the 3500 euros which costs rent & #8230;
